It Ain’t Fun Being Big Ben

Hey everybody, it’s the one and only Ryan Fox back from a severe cause
of hiatus to produce another fun filled Fox on Fire blog. This week’s
blog begins with the letter B for Ben Roethlisberger. For those who
don’t know him, he’s the starting quarterback of the Pittsburgh
Steelers.
The reason why I’m blogging about him is more or less. In the past two
years, Big Ben has gotten himself into big trouble. Not one but two,
count them two, sexual assault allegations were made by two different
women. It is just mind boggling that he gotten himself into those
situations twice.
The first one stemmed came out in July 2009 where 31-year old Andrea
McNulty, a worker at the Lake Tahoe hotel in Nevada, came out to the
media and said that Ben Roethlisberger had sexual assault her when he
stayed at the hotel during a celebrity golf tournament back in 2008. She
only filed a civil lawsuit, demanding nearly $500,000 in damages. The
case dragged into August the same year, only for the authorities find
out that Ms. McNulty’s allegations were false from hard evidence that
disproved the allegations.
But then just recently back in early March of this year, Big Ben found
himself in the same situation. Only this time the accuser was a 20 year
old woman from a club in Milledgeville, Georgia and she brought criminal
charges against the quarterback. This case dragged onto April 12th when
the accuser’s lawyer said that all sexual assault charges against Ben
Roethlisberger were going to be dropped due to lack of DNA evidence to
establish that Ben had sexually assaulted her.
There are some people who think that Ben is a scumbag while others think
that he’s just the guy that’s in the wrong place at the wrong time. I
can’t make any judgment on him since I don’t know how Ben Roethlisberger
personally. But if you ask me, what he needs to use his brains a little
more.
First off, you got to understand Ben that you are a multi-millionaire
NFL Super Star quarterback. That means when you go out, you have a big
bulls eye on your back for people who are gold diggers. They will try to
levy false accusations and obtain false evidence that could severely
hurt your reputation, cost you endorsements and even your job, or go as
far as to put you in jail. Second, you can’t be going to clubs and hang
with 20-something drunk college girls when you’re almost 30.
All in all, just stay on the straight and narrow path Ben. Because if
you have a 3rd sexual assault allegation suit against you, whether it’s
a civil suit or criminal charges, you my good sir are in need of some
serious help.

Baseball is a business just
like anything else and no one knows that like a veteran. Lefty Reliever Alan
Embree signed a Minor League deal with The Boston Red Sox good till April the
15th, and as he told this reporter no tickie no laundry.
The Sox currently have a left
handed specialist in their bullpen ( Scott Schoeneweis ) but recognize that a
good lefty is hard to find. However Embree realizes that lefties are a much
valued commodity in this league. Embree enjoyed some great memories in Boston (
namely that 2004 World Series thing ) hanging around after the 15th even if it
means a future date with the big club is not in his interest. " At this point in
my career I'm either ready or I'm not, of done a lot of great things waiting
around isn't an option. "
Barring a injury or a rare
early season trade Alan Embree could be pitching in a new uniform before the end
of April. After all Embree is just to seasons removed from being Oakland's
Closer and for a forty year old still hits on occasion 90mph on the gun.
